Sixteen, MT
| After about 30 minutes on a quite passable dirt road we arrived “in” Sixteen. (Sixteen is the end of the road and the RoW is blocked with locked gates both east and west!) Our plans were to hike west along the RoW to (hopefully) the Eagle Nest Trestle and Tunnel. In my anxiety to get “on the road” I took my west RoW shot... |

| and east RoW shot. |
| Into the canyon and only several hundred yards “from” Sixteen we encounter the first of several block signals. |
| My wife is not particularly a hiker but she did consent to walk in at least one hour before turning around; here she is by that same signal. |
| The canyon is as spectacular as advertised and I list the photos as I took them going in and back out. We met at least one pick-up going in, several of those 4 wheel ATV’s, several dirt bikes and several fishermen on foot. After the 3rd or 4th encounter and discussion I had this sickening feeling that I had not budgeted enough time for a walk all the way to Eagle Nest Tunnel! |

| We turned around to walk back and I encountered a second locked gate across the RoW and decided to turn back as well. |

| Here is the first block signal we encountered going into the canyon. |
| Note that its mate across the RoW appears to have come to a rather violent end. |
| Beautiful downtown
