July 2007 -- Part Two

Lombard, MT

Our first glimpse of the Lombard bridge was breathtaking!
Across the canyon mouth are some striking limestone forms.
Dropping to the bottom of the road we come to Lombard proper.
We drove along the RoW to the east, over the plate girder bridge.
There is even an interpretive sign there now!
The site (if I remember correctly) of the old Montana Railroad “Y” and shop area to the north of the Milwaukee RoW:
The east portal, which was blocked.
The east portal, again.
Finally coming to the end at a tunnel.
After turning the Expedition around we headed back to Lombard.
Our view before turning up the hill to climb out of the canyon.
